This A4-sized book consists of 1000-odd profiles of all the men who have played first-team football for the Saints, from their first competitive fixture – a Hampshire Junior Cup-tie – in November 1887, through to the last game of the Premiership season in May 2013.
The book’s 532 pages, in full colour, contain more than 1000 photos. Every post-war player has a photo to his name and so do the majority of the pre-war men, some of whose images take the form of an old cigarette card. Several players have an additional photo or two, often illustrating their life after football.
This preponderance of photos is one reason why this book is printed on high-quality paper. So it is heavy – hence our offer to arrange collection, wherever possible, to avoid charging for postage. It retails at £35.
